Walker Sands is seeking an Account Director to oversee a portfolio of SEO, paid media, creative and social media accounts, working with our services teams to drive business outcomes for B2B technology clients. As a senior member of the Client Services team, the Account Director will execute our approach to account management for small to medium-sized point solution and integrated marketing accounts and ensure consistent delivery across service lines.

The Account Director will act as a senior client contact and strategic advisor, work primarily with the demand generation and creative teams to define program goals and strategies, manage client health and renewals, and support sales pitches. In addition to providing senior oversight for a number of smaller accounts, the Account Director may also actively run 1-2 medium to large accounts. Within the Client Services department, the Account Director will help us develop and document processes and methodologies for demand gen and creative accounts to ensure a consistent client experience across our growing team. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees a portfolio of point-solution and multi-service accounts serving as a senior point of contact for both internal service teams and external clients; working with services teams to define program goals and strategy; monitoring results and client business impact; building client relationships; and managing account profitability, client health and renewals. 
  • Leads 1-2 medium to large accounts as the primary day-to-day contact and hands-on client account director. 
  • Acts as a strategic advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on marketing trends, opportunities, and best practices.
  • Drives integration and collaboration across all teams to deliver outcome-driven integrated marketing solutions. 
  • Leads and participates in sales pitches for new business, with strong presentation skills that build confidence in the program and team. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities for account growth and work with clients and internal teams to develop and implement plans to capitalize on them.
  • Coaches junior Client Services team members, including Account Managers and Associate Account Directors. 
  • Inspires, mentors and motivates team members to produce great work and develop competence.
  • Demonstrates understanding of account and project profitability levers, including scoping, pricing, rates and staffing. 
  • Drives increased profitability of accounts over time.
  • Operates a profit-minded approach to managing account resources.
  • Runs internal account team planning meetings, high-level client strategy meetings and account review meetings.
  • Produces and presents client-facing reports that demonstrate the business value of our programs to clients.
  • Oversees client billing, profitability and contract renewal for assigned accounts.

Experience

  • At least 7-10 years leading client accounts in a marketing and/or creative agency.
  • Understanding of all aspects of digital marketing.
  • Experience working with and/or managing cross-disciplinary teams in a matrix account team structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and present to executive and C-level client contacts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
