Senior Content Writer
"But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake."
GLaDOS
As a Walker Sands Senior Content Writer, Mick works closely with the agency’s enterprise software and professional service PR team to create compelling, timely and thoughtful content for a variety of audiences. With a background in both journalism and communications, Mick blends a reporter’s brain with a PR pro’s savvy to understand and deliver bylined articles, blogs and reports that are newsworthy, insightful and on-brand.
Mick began his career spending seven years at tronc, reporting for both The Chicago Tribune as well as RedEye, the company’s millennial-focused commuter publication. During that time, he wrote hundreds of stories — many of which appeared on the front pages of both publications — on a variety of topics, including the Chicago startup scene. Mick cut his teeth in public relations and communications at The John G. Shedd Aquarium, where he was responsible for pitching digital-focused publications with stories of the animals that call the storied organization home and the incredible research it produces around the world. Mick’s full leap into the B2B tech space began at 1871, where he handled internal and external communications as well as content creation for the 150,000 square-foot non-profit tech incubator in The Merchandise Mart.
Mick holds a journalism degree from Illinois State University, with a minor in political science.
