This past Thursday, December 12th, Walker Sands came together to support Beacon Therapeutic , a non-profit that serves at-risk youth and teens in Chicago, through a toy drive. Founded in 1960, Beacon Therapeutic serves youth through their therapeutic day school, homeless outreach services, as well as their mental health outreach program. Reaching out to clients, friends, and family, we were able to collect over 110 gifts for Beacon Therapeutics children. We focused specifically on teens between the ages of 14-18 due to the lack of attention that age group gets during holiday toy drives.
Thanks to the hard work of One Step Forward, Walker Sand’s philanthropic committee, we were able to throw a party in celebration of the toy drive’s success. Susan Renya-Guerrero, Beacon’s President and CEO, spoke at the event. The event was a huge success, having all Walker Sands Employees and friends come celebrate. J.P. Graziano, an Italian import and sub-shop in the West Loop, graciously donated an anti-pasta platter for the event and also had a box for toy collection at their location.
Working together, Walker Sands was able to spread some holiday cheer to the children at Beacon Therapeutic. We want to thank everyone for the support in gift donation, exposure through social media and through word of mouth. It is always great to come together for such a noble cause.
