Recently, Walker Sands sponsored “Holiday Happy Hour,” a networking event hosted by our friends at ColorComm Network. This women’s organization is a thriving group aimed at uplifting women of color in the communications field.
Based in Washington, D.C, the network started in 2011 as luncheon for communications industry professionals. In the past two years, the organization has gained thousands of enthusiastic supporters and leaders. “Holiday Happy Hour” was its kickoff eve
nt for the new year in Chicago.
At the event, Walker Sands’ Senior Vice President of Public Relations Christine Pietryla spoke about Walker Sands’ upcoming job and internship openings and the importance of networking.
WGCI radio personality Loni Swain was the speaker of the evening and gave great advice on interning in the communications field. Once an intern herself, she explained that staying on top of school work and maintaining a job can be difficult but well worth the effort.
ColorComm currently has chapters in D.C., New York and Chicago. The organization anticipates launching an Atlanta chapter in early 2014.
If you are seeking job opportunities or interested in speaking with women in various industries in the communications field, “Holiday Happy Hour” is where you want to be next year. To learn more about ColorComm and its upcoming events visit ColorCommnetwork.com.
