We’re excited to announce that Walker Sands has been included on Chicago Inno’s 50 on Fire list for 2018! This honor recognizes individuals and companies that helped light up the Chicago tech scene in the past year through their innovation and growth.
While we’re always thrilled to gain recognition for our team, we’re especially proud to be recognized within the Chicago tech community. Although we now have offices in Seattle and San Francisco, our roots are in Chicago and it has been a wonderful experience to serve as a resource to the city’s vibrant tech community over the past 17 years.
Looking back on our growth in 2018, it’s easy to highlight the opening of our newest office in Seattle or the fact that we were named to the Inc. 5000 for the 6th straight year. But, we have also experienced incredible growth in our hometown of Chicago.
In 2018 Walker Sands’ clients experienced record levels of both venture capital funding and M&A and include some of Chicago’s fastest-growing and most innovative companies including Grubhub, CloudCraze (acquired by Salesforce), SpringCM (acquired by DocuSign), Showpad, Sprout Social, G2 Crowd, HighGround (acquired by YouEarnedIt) and Essendant (acquired by Staples).
While we continued to produce great results for our existing clients, we were excited to help shine an even brighter light on the Chicago tech scene by further expanding our local client list with companies including Uptake, The Nerdery and Miller Heiman Group.
And we’re not just growing our client numbers; we’re growing as a company as well. While we started the year with 75 employees, in August of this year we officially hit 100 employees (and counting) and will be expanding our Chicago office to accommodate them! In early 2019 we’ll be taking over the whole 39th floor of 55 W. Monroe, expanding to a total of 22,000 square feet.
Throughout this recent growth, we’ve always made culture a priority. This year we’re honored to have also been named the No. 13 best place to work in Chicago and the No. 3 workplace for women in Chicago by Crain’s.
The best part to all of these achievements? We get to accomplish them alongside our wonderful employees. From our annual scavenger hunt that takes teams of Walker Sandsians throughout the city of Chicago, to in-office celebrations with empanadas and Walker Sands-inspired games of Family Feud, to games at Wrigley Field cheering on the Cubs – our team knows how to celebrate, and we feel incredibly lucky to have them.
Congratulations to the rest of the 50 on Fire in Chicago! We’re honored to be counted among you!
