Since this is my first blog I suppose I should introduce myself.
I’m Karissa VanHooser and I am the new interactive marketing intern.
I love all things Italian. I’m obsessed with media, so much so that I chose to study it in college. People have a tendency to think I have an accent, but I assure you, I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. Also, if you’re from Chicago, you probably don’t want to ask me which professional football team I root for.
I have decided that the best way to start off my blogging here at Walker Sands would be to pose a question - a question that I hope to answer by the end of my internship. First, watch this video that has been an introduction to more classes than I can count.
But really, what does it all mean?
After analyzing the video multiple times throughout all of my coursework back in college, I firmly believed I understood the meaning of this clip. In many ways, I still understand the content. The change is the need to alter my mindset. I’ve spent the last four years learning about what I eventually would be doing for a living, rather than doing it. So, as I begin to adapt, I really do have to ask, what does it all mean for a digital marketer?
In a world that is constantly evolving, especially digitally, how can one keep up? I know that I already a step ahead of the game, simply because of my age. My ability to stay abreast of new technology and trends is a more natural process for me than many of the older generations. I have also surrounded myself, on a daily basis, with people that have already been in the business for years. After my first week here at Walker Sands, I’ve already learned an invaluable skill set.
So, let’s hope that in a few months I will be able to answer this question. If there is one thing I’m sure of, the guidance of my co-workers will continue to serve as a fast track guide to the solution.
