Associate Creative Director, Copy

Walker Sands is seeking an Associate Creative Director, Copy to join our talented and growing creative team in downtown Chicago. This person should have a creative and strategic mindset, experience managing copywriters in an agency and an impeccable portfolio of work.

In close partnership with our ACD, Design, the ACD, Copy will manage creative processes and formalize improved internal and cross-team processes and workflows ensure that final products are completed on time and with the highest standards.


  • Partner with senior leaders across multi-disciplinary teams to establish creative direction for
    campaigns and brand projects.
  • Support ongoing business development initiatives, with a focus on campaigns and branding: directional concepting, strategic recommendations, proposal development, pricing, pitching.
  • Think conceptually and deliver strategic creative solutions based on specific brand goals.
  • Develop campaign and brand concepts that deliver value to current and prospective clients.
  • Build verbal identity systems and develop brand guidelines for B2B clients.
  • Oversee production for a variety of creative deliverables (brand identities, campaigns, web content, social media content and more), ensuring quality and consistency across channels.
  • Collaborate with project managers, account managers/directors, creative directors, strategists, designers, developers and more on complex projects — all while maintaining grace under pressure.
  • Maintain day-to-day administrative responsibilities (responding to emails, delivering
    performance reviews, meeting project deadlines and more).
  • Provide constructive feedback and serve as a leader and mentor to a team of copywriters.
  • Inspire confidence and excitement from internal and client stakeholders during creative presentations.


  • 5+ years of experience, with a background in copywriting (agency experience required)
  • Portfolio that demonstrates both campaign development and branding capabilities
  • Experience pitching creative work to clients
  • Preferred: Experience in sales and people management
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications or related field
