Rachel Lira

Content Specialist

Rachel Lira, Walker Sands

As a content specialist, Rachel participates in the development of content assets for Walker Sands’ enterprise software and professional services accounts. Her work involves the development and creation of contributed articles and blog posts as well as long-form content including research reports, white papers and e-books.

With previous work experience on Walker Sands’ martech PR team and a boutique marketing agency in Lincoln Park, Rachel brings both a PR and writing skill set to her content role. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and minors in Spanish, business and women’s and gender studies.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find her hanging out on the grassy boulevards of Logan Square with her furry, adopted best friend, Rosie. Unless, of course, it’s winter, in which case Netflix it is.

Q&A with Rachel Lira

What is your favorite book of all time?

Gone With the Wind. It’s the only book I’ll read over and over again besides the Harry Potter series. I cry every time.

What is your favorite place in Chicago that isn't a typical tourist destination?

The Randolph Street Market! My sister and I love going during the summer to shop for some vintage decor in the sunshine.

Would you rather have the office stocked 24/7 with Starbucks coffee or Garrett popcorn?

I’m worried that having access to some Chicago mix at all times would ruin it for me, and that would be tragic. Caffeine is always a good thing, so I’m going with Starbucks.

One thing people in the world wouldn't know about you?

People frequently ask me if I’m Italian because of my last name since, before the euro, the lira was Italy’s currency. I am not Italian but rather Irish on my mom’s side and Mexican on my dad’s.

If you could live anywhere else in the world where would it be?

Paris. I’d have to learn French first, but I can’t say I’d really mind.
