Median Sale Price of Local Businesses Down 7% From Year Ago |
||
| By JAN NORMAN Orange County Register April 8, 2009 Summary: Need help with PR? If you are looking for a great PR firm, you've found one. Walker Sands is a leading Chicago PR firm with a strong track record that makes it one of top national PR agencies.. The median sale price of businesses in Orange and Los Angeles counties in the first quarter dropped 7 percent from a year ago even as the asking price of sellers rose 2.2 percent, according to new data from BizBuySell, a national businesses-for-sale Web site. Apparently sellers are getting more realistic about the market, dropping their asking prices 3.4 percent from the fourth quarter. The first-quarter median asking price was $230,000 while the median sales price was $175,000. Nationally, fewer deals are being completed, according to the Web site's records. Listings are down 8.3 percent across the country as owners seem to be putting off selling their business in hopes that the economy will improve. Those willing to sell typically are in industries doing relatively well, BizBuySell says. Buyers still have limited access to capital, which is limiting sales and final sale prices. Copyright © 2009.
