Richard Breeden Insurance Information Institute Database August 15, 2006 Summary: Need help with PR? If you are looking for a great PR firm, you've found one. Walker Sands is a leading Chicago PR firm with a strong track record that makes it one of top national PR agencies.. This statistical snapshot summarizes a survey of the health insurance
benefits offered to the employees of small businesses conducted by SurePayroll,
a Chicago company that provides payroll services. Currently 58 percent of small businesses offer health insurance and 56 percent of those with plans pay 80 percent of the cost of workers’ health care. The survey shows that 11 percent of small businesses that offer health benefits are considering dropping the benefit next year, if the cost increases significantly in the second half of this year. Michael Alter, president of SurePayroll, warns that the nation’s health care problems could become critical if 350,000 small businesses stopped offering health insurance next year. The article includes two pie charts, one showing the percentage of small
businesses that currently offer health insurance and another showing the
percent of the plans that are through preferred provider organizations,
health maintenance organizations or a combination of the two approaches. Copyright (c) 2006. Insurance Information Institute Database.
