This morning we received exciting news: We are shortlisted as finalists for the Holmes Report’s 2017 North America Boutique PR Agencies of the Year award – one of the public relations industry’s most prestigious awards programs. The report credits our recognition to consistent double digit growth and expansion, all of which wouldn’t be possible without our supportive teams and amazing clients!
Since Walker Sands’ founding in 2001, we’ve witnessed immense growth and are incredibly humbled to see the accolades our agency has been able to achieve together. Last year we were finalist in the top Technology Agency category, and are privileged to be distinguished for two years running. You can read more about what qualified our agency for a spot on the Boutique Agency of the Year shortlist here.
Today’s news came hot on the heels of last week’s SABRE Awards North America Finalists announcement, in which were earned a spot on the Public Education category shortlist for our CompTIA Make Tech Her Story campaign. This honor is felt company wide today as this campaign was a full team effort, utilizing resources from our PR, demand gen, web/design and content teams.
The winners will be announced for both awards on May 2 at the awards ceremony in New York. We would like to extend a huge congratulations to the other finalists and wish our team the best of luck at the ceremony!
We are excited to announce that Clutch, a research firm that identifies leading software and professional services, has named Walker Sands Digital as one of Chicago’s leading full service digital agencies. Last year we were given the same recognition in both Chicago and San Francisco. Making the list a second time is a true testament to the clients we get to work with and the talent our teams contribute.
To qualify for the list, Clutch judged Walker Sands on industry awards and recognition, portfolio items, services provided and key clients. A team of Clutch analysts then reached out to our clients to collect additional information to help qualify us as one of the top digital agencies in Chicago. The client feedback was more than we could have asked for.
One client remarked:
Walker Sands’ project management skills across the board for our services are really top-notch. They are really easy to work with and open about our results. They provide weekly reports for our PPC efforts, so it’s really easy to keep a really good pulse on how we’re performing overall. The same goes for their SEO work.
As soon as we give them a project, they really stick to their deadlines well, and the end product is always really well done. They keep me to my deadlines too, which is always appreciated.
We’ve been so fortunate to work together to build websites for clients like CloudCraze and Surgical Directions among others as well as an interactive micro-site for a cause for CompTIA. It’s great to be recognized by Clutch, and we mean it when we say we can’t do it without our clients.

It’s with much excitement that we announce our fourth year honored in the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies!
We’ve said it time and time again, but in the past year we saw growth we never anticipated. Since the 2015 Inc. 5000 rankings, we’ve expanded our office space, gained 20 employees and opened up an office in San Francisco; however, the upward movement and perseverance is a true testament to our people.
Last year when we earned a spot for the third consecutive year, we were overwhelmed with the strides we made as a company. Approaching our fourth year on the list, we are elated to be included with the likes of many other successful companies. In the 35th annual Inc. 500|5000, Walker Sands ranked 2398, keeping us in the top half for four consecutive years.
Please join me in applauding all of the hard work of our employees and the dedication of our amazing clients, the reasons we are able to gain such prestigious recognition year after year! Additional applause goes out to our clients who made the list this year including Finicity, InMoment, Kobie Marketing, Magnetic, OSM Worldwide, PointSource and PureCars.
The last few years have been full of substantial growth at Walker Sands. We’ve seen our walls expand with two office additions and space become sparse in the refrigerators. But with all the growing pains comes the addition of new brains filled with incredible talent. And this year, we hired our first in-house video producer to create new engaging content for internal use and client services.
We wanted to see how our videos were stacking up in the marketplace, so we entered in the 20th annual Videographer Awards. The verdict? We won!
We achieved an Award of Excellence for our Creative Agency Video, which highlighted the items necessary to our creative cognisance. This video was also highlighted on the homepage of the Videographer Awards! Check out the needed ingredients for our day to day here:
Our second award was for The CompTIA Social Experiment Case Study Video which exhibited our ability to tell a good case study story. We dropped 200 USB sticks in cities across America to see how many people would pick them up and plug them in. The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals awarded it an Award of Distinction! Check it out:
Congrats to our video team for some well deserved recognition on two of our great videos. Check out more of our creative video content here.
June has been a whirlwind of awards shows for Walker Sands! Amidst the nervous energy, bow ties and cocktail attire, we are thrilled to share that we recently took home four PRSA Skyline Awards and Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC) Golden Trumpet Awards. Among these honors, our very own Mike Santoro, president of Walker Sands, was named PRSA’s PR Professional of the Year.
Mike embodies Walker Sands’ core values of learn, support and do — a quality that resonated with PRSA’s committee when they selected him for demonstrating outstanding leadership, innovation and creativity in managing our company’s rapid growth. However, in true Mike Santoro fashion, this award is a testament to the amazing work done by our teams.
Being the true team player he is, Mike recently said “This has about 1% to do with me and 99% to do with the smart people I’ve surrounded myself with”.
Walker Sands was honored at the PCC Golden Trumpet Award Gala at Palmer House, and the PRSA Skyline Awards at the Chicago Cultural Center for the following campaigns and programs:
Newark Element 14 for Raspberry Pi launch – Gold at PCC and Gold at PRSA
This three-phased product launch campaign boosted sales, secured top-tier placements and effectively generated awareness by connecting with influencers, purchasers, vloggers and Raspberry Pi enthusiasts around the world. The Newark team received an award in the Media Relations, Professional and/or Financial category for their approach to this product launch.
CompTIA for USB experiment – Gold at PCC and Gold at PRSA
Our PR driven social experiment found that one in five people will plug an unmarked USB stick into their computers, and ultimately helped establish CompTIA as an expert in the cybersecurity space. Additionally, we were able to increase awareness of their non-IT training and certification programs while earning 100 media placements and 53 million impressions. This campaign won in the Media Relations, Business-to-Business categories for PCC and PRSA.
