Calling hours for Sgt. Large, 31, are scheduled from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3533 Darrow Road, Stow.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.

Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park at 2613 Sackett Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls.

Sgt. Large was the second local serviceman to die last week.

U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel M. McVicker, 20, of Alliance, died Oct. 6 as a result of an improvised explosive devise.

Large joined the Army Reserve after Sept. 11, 2001, and became a medic.

Later, he went into the regular Army and became a paratrooper as well.

He was a lead medic for his company and was part of 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.

Large died with two other paratroopers when a bomb went off near their Humvee on Oct. 3.

He had already served tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq when he was killed on his second tour in Iraq.

His father, Larry Large, said his son had only been in Iraq for 31 days when he was killed.

``He is in the arms of God now,'' he said in a television interview. His mother, Linda Large, said her son was always her hero, and ``now he is everybody's hero.''

Large is survived by his parents, Linda Large of Cuyahoga Falls, and father and stepmother Larry and Jane Large of Stow. He is also survived by his sister, Michelle Lever of Green, and two daughters, Devan and Kylie.

In an online tribute at www.legacy.com, daughter Kylie wrote that ``my daddy was a very good soldier and I will always keep him in my heart.''

She said even if she has to wait 70 or 80 years to see him again, ``the time that I waited will be worth it in the end. I love you daddy and I always will.''
